I am learning to respond and write a Spring poem

I know I can do it when I can….

• Understand and explain events happening during spring

• Use describing words to explain events about spring using an acrostic poem

• Explain and discuss my ideas as to what I see, hear, feel and smell

• Write ideas of what you see, feel, touch and hear about Spring

What is an acrostic poem?

It is a poem that uses the first letter of the word to describe an event, a thing or a person.

Example---

1.  Acrostic Poem

Season that starts in September and ends in the first week of December.

Plants are growing and trees blooming,

Refreshing air after the rain

In the air, butterflies are flying.

Nature is alive

Grass is green.

Sunflowers

Plants growing

Rabbits hopping

Insects all around

Nature alive

Green grass

Warm sunshine

Abigail Spring is when…. Flowers grow Grass are green Birds are singing Trees are growing and you See lots of rainbows  after the rain. Singing birds Plants  grow Rainbows in the sky Insects come out Nest full of eggs Garden are full of flowers

Bianca Spring is when--- Bunnies and butterflies come out Bees go and collect nectar Birds singing Feel droplets of rain Smell the beautiful flowers. Sun is shining bright Planting potatoes with dad In the park the playground is full of families Newborn puppies Gardeners busy in their gardens

Smell mum’s cooking -----smell

Alannah Snow and ice melt Feel happy because nature wakes up Smell beautiful blooming flowers Birds chirping Grass is green Sunflowers blooming Plants growing Rainbows appear after rain Insects come out Nature wakes up Grass is green Sunflowers

Owen Sun is shining Plants grow Feel excited because the sun has come out. Sweet smelling flowers Birds singing Butterflies flying Sunny day Peaceful time Rabbits hopping around Incredible weather New growth of flowers Gardeners out to plant Meadow

Nola Sun is shining Bunnies hopping around Birds are singing I smell beautiful flowers Sun is bright and warm Plants growing Rabbits hopping around Indigo part of the rainbow Newborn puppies Green grass growing Cherry blossom

Leroy Butterflies are flying Colourful flowers blooming I hear children playing in the park I smell fresh air Sunshine all the time Poppies in the garden Rainbow appears Insects in the garden Nature is colourful Garden is growing Sun shining
