Year 1 Focus--- BELONGING

Achievement Objective


Children will be able to develop an understanding about belonging, participating and celebrating in communities, especially whanau, school and parish.

Learning this strand will develop the following:


ATTITUDE:


  • Show appreciation for members of their extended family-whanau

  • Demonstrate a sense of enjoyment when celebrating with others

  • Demonstrate a sense of reverence when appropriate

  • Appreciate God’s love for people

  • Respond to God’s love with gratitude

  • Demonstrate the caring, loving attitude of Jesus in words and action

  • Demonstrate an ability to work co-operatively

  • Demonstrate the willingness to help others

Prayers:

Lesson 4

  • Name ways and reasons why the class and school celebrates

  • Contribute to participate to a class celebration

  • Demonstrate enjoyment while celebrating with others

I can identify and name our class and school celebrations

I know the reasons why we celebrate them as a school


Lesson 5

  • Explain what is a marae

  • Various roles played by the whanau

  •  Recognise when whanau care, share and help one another, they show manaakitanga

  • Recognise that when everyone played their part the tapu and the mana of the visitors and whanau increase

I understand the roles of whanau in the marae
